Definition and EtiologyTop

Ventricular tachycardias (VTs) are wide-QRS rhythms (QRS complex >120 milliseconds) that originate in the ventricle. Depending on the presence and type of structural heart disease, they are classified into 3 main types:

1) Idiopathic VT.

2) VT following myocardial infarction.

3) VT in nonischemic cardiomyopathy.
