empendium has become an important asset in medical education and day‑to‑day practice.
empendium is developed by Medycyna Praktyczna, a Polish medical publishing house. Textbooks are developed by the Polish Institute for Evidence Based Medicine.
1. The owner of the mp.pl portal (hereinafter "the Portal") and the users’ personal data controller is "Medycyna Praktyczna" Wojciech Bodzoń, Piotr Gajewski, Jarosław Kużdżał, Wiesław Latuszek-Łukasiewicz, Bernard Wirkijowski Spółka jawna, with its registered office at ul. Rejtana 2 in Krakow (30-510), (hereinafter "MP"), tax ID (NIP): 6790044689. Personal Data Protection Officer contact: iod@mp.pl.
2. The personal data shall be processed to allow registration and user account maintenance service (hereinafter "the User Account") for the Portal user and to enable the use of services that require login; for marketing purposes, including profiling as well as for statistics and analytics performed by the data controller.
3. Personal data shall be processed as required for the performance of agreements (pursuant to Article 6.1 (b) of the GDPR). The legitimate interest of the data controller is the basis for the processing of personal data for marketing purposes (Article 6.1 (f) of the GDPR).
4. The user provides their personal data voluntarily but the data is necessary to execute and perform an agreement with MP and to access MP’s services requiring login. If the user does not provide personal data or objects to the processing thereof, the User Account cannot be created and the user will not be able to access the services requiring login.
5. The users have the right to:
– access their data,
– request its rectification, deletion or limitation of its processing
– object to the processing of personal data
– withdraw the consents granted, provided that the withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of data processing during the period preceding the consent withdrawal.
6. Users have the right to instigate claims with the supervisory body – the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection if they decide that their data is being processed improperly.
7. The processing of personal data is fully described in the MP Privacy Policy.
8. The creation and maintenance of the User Account are voluntary and free of charge. Some sites and login services may require extra fees. Information about the necessity to pay such an extra fee will appear when you try to use the service.
1. Some websites and services of the Portal and MP applications for PCs and mobile devices require the User Account and authentication through the User Account to allow access to a service or manage licenses.
2. The User, depending on their professional status, may set up one of the following three Accounts:
2a. Standard user account, intended for persons who are not medical professionals, allows, inter alia:
– to access services for patients requiring login;
– to activate the computer and mobile device app (certain functionalities may be disabled);
– to book appointments with doctors who have made their calendar available online;
2b. Account for medical and pharmaceutical professionals other than doctors, includes the functionalities of the standard user account and additionally allows, among others:
– to access login services for doctors;
2c. Account for doctors includes the functionalities of both User Accounts described above and additionally enables, among others:
– to access login websites for doctors and posting comments to articles
– to activate the computer and mobile device app and to use all functionalities
– to create and modify doctor business card
– to manage online appointments calendar
– to earn educational points.
3. To prevent problems related to entering an incorrect User e-mail address during registration, the User Account activation will be preceded by a verification message. If the User does not react to the verification message within 7 days of its sending, all data entered during registration will be deleted.
1. Any complaints, inquiries and comments concerning the User Account may be sent to MP at the e‑mail address: usersupport@mp.pl or by traditional mail to: Medycyna Praktyczna, 30-510 Kraków, ul. Rejtana 2.
2. Complaints will be considered within 14 days of their receipt.
1. The Users are obliged not to disclose their Account login and password to anyone.
2. MP reserves the right to block the User Account whenever it suspects its unauthorized use; detects multiple unsuccessful login attempts or if MP finds the User Account susceptible to being hacked due to a weak, easily guessable password.
3. MP is the copyright owner of all the educational content available from the Portal and the MP apps.
4. The said copyrighted content is available to the Users for personal educational use.
5. Any use of the content of the materials and information available to the Users in whole or in part (e.g. copying, duplicating, publishing), other than those described above, requires MP’s written permission.
6. MP shall use its best efforts to ensure that the educational content is free of any errors and mistakes.
7. The content available to the Users contains general information about diseases and their treatment and does not constitute medical advice, opinion, judgment or information about the health condition of a specific patient within the meaning of the Act of 5 December 1996 on doctor and dentist professions.
8. Since decisions having therapeutic consequences for the patient should be based on the knowledge and experience of a physician and a personal consultation with a physician, MP excludes all legal claims of the Users against MP regarding possible direct and indirect damages.
