
Dr. Ilana Bayer
McMaster University, CanadaDr. Ilana Bayer is the Learning Technologies Lab (LTL) Director in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Office and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology & Molecular Medicine at McMaster University. In her LTL Director role, Dr. Bayer acts as the education scholarship lead for education technology-related activities and research for the CPD office and supports faculty development and research around the use of electronic modalities in higher education. She has led and worked on numerous development and research projects as well as curricula that have involved the use of technology. She teaches in multiple programs (undergraduate, graduate, faculty development) and in a variety of learning environments (face-to-face, blended, online). Her research interests include education technologies, education design, program evaluation and user experience in academic settings.
Dr. Bayer has a combined background in health sciences education, e-learning, teaching, and training. She has a PhD in physiology (University of Toronto) and recently completed a MacPherson Institute Leadership in Teaching & Learning Fellowship (McMaster University). She is the co-chair for the Active and Flexible Learning Spaces Working Group and a member of technology-related committees (Digital Learning Strategy Steering Committee, Teaching and Learning Technology Committee) at McMaster University.
