Since 2012 professor in palliative medicine, Department of Oncology, Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen. Scientific interests in palliative medicine and pain management: Management of chronic cancer and non-cancer pain, symptom etiology, epidemiology and treatment outcomes and opioid pharmacology, consumption and long-term treatment consequences.
Author/co-author of 221 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 41 books/book chapters in palliative medicine and pain management (HI-index 55 Web of Science). Former chair of the Danish Society of Palliative Medicine, vice-president of European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) and currently member International Scientific Expert Panel (ISEP) of Cicely Saunders.
