Born in Cracow 1958, completed medical studies in 1983 at the Jagiellonian University. Worked in the Institute of Paediatrics and Institute of Pharmacology, Polish Academy of Sciences. He is specialist in paediatrics, clinical genetics and laboratory medical genetics. Was research fellow in the Boston Children’s Hospital, Necker Hospital in Paris, Swiss Institute for Asthma and Allergy Research in Davos and Center for Experimental Therapy, Birgham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Obtained professor degree in 2007. Leads a hospital laboratory for genetic diagnostics of common mutations and autoimmune disorders. He developed experimental models and methods for lipid mediators measurement using mass spectrometry in bronchial asthma and chronic urticaria. Was involved in discoveries of congenital diseases of bones and kidneys. Worked on genetic predisposition to asthma, particularly within cysteinyl leukotrienes pathway. Participated in Innovative Medicine Initiative of European Community for search of biomarkers of respiratory diseases – UBIOPRED. Cooperated with King’s College of London in research of lipid mediators of inflammation. Is member of Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and Polish Academy of Sciences.
