Prof. Julian Dobranowski

Julian Dobranowski MD, FRCPC, FCAR, completed his medical training in 1979 at the Medical Academy in Krakow, Poland and his radiology training in 1986 at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Following this, he completed a fellowship in MRI at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.

Dr. Dobranowski is the Professor and Chair in the Department of Radiology at McMaster University, Faculty of Health Sciences in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is the Chief of Diagnostic Imaging at Niagara Health System as well as the Chair of the steering and scientific committees of the Juravinski Research Institute. Provincially, Dr. Dobranowski holds the position of Provincial Head for the Cancer Imaging Program at Cancer Care Ontario and the position of Clinical Lead Access to Care MRI/CT.
Current interests of Dr. Dobranowski include the development of Quality Cancer Imaging Guidelines and the implementation of standardized/synoptic reporting in diagnostic imaging. He continues to initiate the development and implementation of quality indicators and clinical pathways for cancer imaging.
Dr. Dobranowski has a keen interest in education and is proud of receiving a PAIRO award for teaching excellence. His textbook Discover Radiology: Chest X-ray Interpretation was awarded the British Medical Association Radiology Textbook of the Year Award in 2014. He has also been involved in the creation of online eLearning modules that were recognized as highly commended in the British Medical Association Medical Book Awards 2018 in the “digital and online resources” category.

Recently Dr. Dobranowski was honoured by the Canadian Association of Radiologists with the Distinguished Career Achievement Award and Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology with the Distinguished Fellow Award.
