Prof. Leslie Martin

Dr. Leslie Martin is an Assistant Professor with the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine. She completed her MD at the University of Ottawa, followed by her residency and fellowship training at McMaster. She subsequently completed a Masters in Health Professions Education through Maastricht University in the Netherlands. She has been in the role of Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at McMaster since 2021. She is a Scholar with the McMaster Education Research, Innovation and Theory (MERIT) Program, and her primary research interest involves exploring the impact of assessment on learning through qualitative methodology. Clinically, she practices as a General Internist at Hamilton Health Sciences. She has a clinical focus in the care of patients with Substance Use Disorder, and was the former inaugural co-chair for the inpatient addictions medicine service from 2018-2023. She continues to engage in curriculum development, program evaluation and quality improvement to work to optimize the care of people who use drugs.
