Prof. Chris Plummer

Chris Plummer is a cardiologist and chief clinical information officer at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He runs the cardio-oncology service based at the cancer centre in Newcastle, he is secretary of the British Cardio-Oncology Society and a Nucleus Member of the European Society of Cardiology Council of Cardio-Oncology. He is involved in multiple oncology and cardio-oncology clinical trials, including research in the prediction, detection and prevention of anthracycline toxicity. His other interests include the use of information technology in clinical practice, with delivery of the Global Digital Exemplar programme in the Newcastle Hospitals, and completing the NHS Digital Academy post-graduate diploma in digital health leadership in the last year. He is also very active in medical education - interviewing medical students, cardiology training through the Cardiology Specialty Advisory Committee, vice-president of the cardiology section of the Union of European Medical Specialists, sitting on the European Society of Cardiology education committee and chairing the European Examination in Core Cardiology.
