
Prof. Steven Durning
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, USASteven J. Durning, MD, PhD, MACP is a professor and vice chair of the department of medicine and founding Director of the Center for Health Professions Education at the Uniformed Services University (USU). He received his MD degree from the University of Pittsburgh and he practices internal medicine. He received his PhD from Maastricht University, which addressed the influence of contextual factors on clinical reasoning. He is also the founding principal investigator of USU's Long Term Career Outcome Study. Dr Durning serves on a number of national and international organizations and research interests include clinical reasoning and assessment. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications, 50 invited chapters and seven edited textbooks, and has received more than $15 million in funding over the years.
