Dieta Intermittent fasting – skuteczna dieta czy trend żywieniowy?

Desde hace poco tiempo, la dieta del ayuno intermitente (IF, ing. intermitteng fasting) está suscitando un gran interés, debido a la existencia de datos que indican una reducción de peso efectiva y de beneficios para la salud.

Al responder a la pregunta si la dieta IF es una estrategia de adelgazamiento eficaz o más bien se trata de una nueva tendencia gastronómica, cabe subrayar que sería necesario planificar estudios aleatorizados más grandes que duren por lo menos un año y que evalúen la influencia a largo plazo de la dieta IF en el organismo, sus efectos metabólicos y los biomarcadores del envejecimiento y que a su vez permitan determinar el modelo de dieta IF más beneficioso. Debido a la falta de datos unívocos respecto a los efectos y la seguridad de la dieta IF, esta no puede ser considerada una forma de alimentación que se pudiera recomendar a la población general. Hace falta definir el grupo para el que el modelo alimentario de la IF sea recomendable y los grupos para los que la IF resulte un riesgo para la salud, entre otros, para los diabéticos. Para el grupo de diabéticos períodos entre comidas demasiado prolongados podrían causar hipoglucemia.

Una revisión actual de los artículos publicados sobre este tema en revistas científicas que analizan estudios en animales o en pequeños grupos de personas enfatiza la posibilidad de utilizar la dieta IF durante un largo período de tiempo puesto que da respuesta a las necesidades dietéticas mínimas y a un balance correcto, e impacta positivamente en los parámetros metabólicos, incluidos la reducción del tejido adiposo y el mantenimiento de la masa muscular. Además, existen sugestivos estudios con animales y estudios limitados con personas que indican que la limitación temporal de la ingesta a unas horas al día puede ser considerada una estrategia relativamente fácil y eficaz para prevenir enfermedades a nivel de la población9,22,23.
