Prevención de la insuficiencia cardíaca
Los factores de riesgo para desarrollar insuficiencia cardíaca son: estilo de vida sedentario, tabaquismo, obesidad, abuso de alcohol, gripe, enfermedades infecciosas (p. ej. por Trypanosoma cruzi, infección por estreptococos), fármacos cardiotóxicos (p. ej. antraciclinas), radiación de tórax, HTA, dislipidemia, diabetes y EC.
Para prevenir o retrasar la aparición de la IC y para prevenir la hospitalización por IC, se recomienda tratar la HTA [I/A] y administrar estatinas en los enfermos con una enfermedad cardiovascular o alto riesgo de desarrollarla [I/A]. Se recomienda administrar inhibidores del cotransportador de sodio-glucosa tipo 2 (SLGT2; canagliflozina, dapagliflozina, empagliflozina, ertugliflozina, sotagliflozina) en los enfermos con diabetes y enfermedad cardiovascular o alto riesgo de desarrollarla para prevenir la hospitalización por IC [I/A].
Se recomienda desaconsejar el estilo de vida sedentario, la obesidad, el tabaquismo y el consumo excesivo de alcohol para prevenir o retrasar la aparición de la IC [I/C].
