↑ Primary (hereditary hemochromatosis) and secondary (eg, after transfusion) iron overload, anemias (pure red cell aplasia, aplastic anemia, megaloblastic anemia, sideroblastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, congenital dyserythropoietic anemias, myelodysplastic syndromes), liver diseases (hepatitis C, cirrhosis, chronic alcohol abuse), iron intake with food, medication, or as a supplement before sample collection
