Could cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) be discontinued when the patient’s medical history is updated during CPR (eg, metastatic cancer)?
Bernd W. Böttiger, MD: It is always a difficult issue to think about stopping or terminating CPR. I can easily imagine that if we have more and more information coming to us during ongoing CPR, the decision to stop CPR can be executed—if there is enough and solid-based information.
