How often should we order a complete blood count in patients with chronic kidney disease?
Francesco Locatelli: The problem of controlling hemoglobin levels in patients with chronic kidney disease is related to the level of renal function deterioration. If the renal function deterioration is not much, control every 3 months is enough. Otherwise, you should increase the frequency of control until once a month in order to be sure to be in the situation to correct any severe anemia in this patient population.
