What is medical cannabis?

Kevin P. Hill, MD: Medical cannabis is the use of regular cannabis in order to treat a given medical condition. There is a lot of confusion about the difference between medical cannabis and cannabis that somebody may purchase on the street. It is the same thing exactly. It is just that medical cannabis is usually purchased in dispensary and there is a process by which it is used. The physician will certify a patient to use medical cannabis to treat a given medical condition.

But at the end of the day, the actual compound that you are using, the plant itself is the same whether you buy it in dispensary or if you purchase it on the street. That is one of the common misconceptions about medical cannabis.
