We are excited to announce that the McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine will be transitioning to ebm.one this December. We believe this change will significantly improve your learning experience and increase the ease of use.
What is ebm.one?
ebm.one is a comprehensive one-stop solution for quick access to verified medical knowledge. Built through collaborations with prestigious institutions, societies, and medical centers around the globe, ebm.one brings together reliable medical resources in one unified platform to deliver peer-reviewed content for guiding informed clinical decisions and enhanced patient care.
ebm.one has been optimized for rapid consultations during busy clinical shifts, with responsive design that works seamlessly across all your devices.
As of December 2025, the McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine will be moving textbook chapters and supplementary online content to ebm.one. The site that you are currently viewing will be no longer updated.
The new textbook page can be now accessed directly through www.mcmastertextbook.one. The existing addresses will be gradually updated to eventually point to the new platform.
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to serving you on ebm.one. If you have any questions about this transition, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at contact@mcmastertextbook.one or hello@ebm.one.
Thank you for being part of our community!
Frequently asked questions
Will I need to pay for access?
ebm.one hosts content that is open access or requires a premium access fee. The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine will become part of the premium collection, requiring a universal subscription fee.
However, if your school or society has institutional access, the subscription fee is not applicable, and your access will continue through your institution.
I have an active subscription. What happens to it?
If you currently have an active subscription to the McMaster Textbook, please contact our editorial office at contact@mcmastertextbook.one to arrange for the transfer of your active subscription to ebm.one. Our team will do our best to ensure a smooth transition for all our subscribers.
Will my account transfer automatically?
No, user data will not be transferred automatically to ebm.one. You will need to register a new account on the platform when prompted. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Why is the textbook transitioning to paid access?
This transition reflects the reality of maintaining and continuously improving a high-quality medical resource. The costs associated with ongoing platform maintenance, content updates, and the production of new material have grown substantially. To ensure we can continue delivering reliable content, we need to establish a sustainable funding model that supports these essential operations.
How much will access cost?
We have worked hard to keep our pricing as low as possible while maintaining the quality and comprehensiveness you expect. Our subscription rates of $30 CAD per year or equivalent remain highly competitive within the medical education market, and affordability remains our core priority. We believe that access to quality medical education resources should not be prohibitively expensive, and our pricing structure reflects this commitment.
What happens to the revenue generated from subscriptions?
All funding generated through subscriptions is reinvested directly back into the platform and content. This means funding for improved hosting infrastructure to ensure fast, reliable access; development of new clinical resources and educational materials; regular updates to reflect the emerging medical evidence and guidelines; and enhanced features to improve your learning experience. Your subscription directly supports the creation of the resources you and your colleagues rely on for professional development.
Are there any launch promotions?
