Management of macrophage activation syndrome

Bhaskar Dasgupta

How to manage a patient with macrophage activation syndrome?

Bhaskar Dasgupta, MD: Management in macrophage activation syndrome is with high-dose steroids. We often use dexamethasone if there are neurological features, and we basically inhibit the T cells by using cyclosporine (INN ciclosporin). Sometimes we may have to use etoposide intravenously for treatment.
