Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism is a relatively common endocrine condition, which is being increasingly identified in its asymptomatic stage, following routine evaluation of serum calcium levels. Parathyroid hormone and calcium excess impact multiple organ systems. The greatest effects are seen on the skeleton and the kidney.
This overview describes the current advances in the diagnosis, presentation, and management of primary hyperparathyroidism.
