2019-10-23

In October 2019, to mark the 50th anniversary of McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, the McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine will be made available in print for the first time, accompanied by the launch of mobile applications for iOS and Android.

The McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine is the first comprehensive Canadian textbook of internal medicine developed at McMaster University. In 2016, the web-based version was released and has continued to expand since.

Spanning over 1500 pages and covering the essential fields of internal medicine, the textbook aims to answer the needs of physicians, residents, medical students, and other medical professionals who seek access to updated verified medical knowledge useful in everyday practice. It aims to be practical, current, and affordable.

To facilitate decision-making, the print edition and mobile applications also employ the GRADE indicators to describe the Strength of Recommendations and Quality of Evidence.

The contents include:

  • Signs and Symptoms
  • Allergy and Immunology
  • Cardiovascular Diseases
  • Electrolyte, Fluid, and Acid-Base Balance Disorders
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Hematology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology
  • Palliative Care

The first print edition of the McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine will be available for sale in the upcoming weeks.

The printing and dissemination of this textbook is generously sponsored by Mr Michael G. DeGroote. Mr Andy Balij and Ms Marta Struska supported textbook preparation.
