Dr David Conen, associate professor in the Division of Cardiology, McMaster University, discusses the indications for oral anticoagulation for stroke prevention in patients with chronic atrial fibrillation (AF), important subtypes where the data on anticoagulation are insufficient, and the subgroup of patients with perioperative AF after noncardiac surgery.
