Obesity in the McMaster Textbook of Internal Medicine

2021-07-27

“The World Health Organization (WHO) defines obesity as the accumulation of excessive and/or abnormal adipose tissue that impairs health. From 1975 to 2014 global rates of obesity increased from 3.2% to 10.8% in men and from 6.4% to 14.9% in women. It is estimated that 18% of men and 21% of women worldwide will be obese by 2025.”

To learn more about this serious health concern, go to our new chapters written by renowned experts in the field from McMaster University and beautifully illustrated by Dr Shannon Zhang:

Mobile apps

The new chapters are easily accessible through our mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. The mobile apps are also regularly updated on the go to improve the general comfort of use and stability.

Starting January 2021, full access to the mobile apps now requires a subscription (read more). Users who do not wish to subscribe are still able to access selected modules, including In the Spotlight articles and a number of demo chapters (with COVID-19 updates available to everyone).
