Dr Vikas Tandon, associate professor of medicine in the Divisions of Cardiology and Perioperative Care at McMaster University, discusses the basics of nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) as well as clinical indications and appropriateness criteria for MPI, compares single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with positron emission tomography (PET), and comments on test selection and result interpretation.
